Lauren Newman The Kevin Boyle Foundation 248 Ellis Road Havertown, PA 19083
Dear Lauren,
I am writing
on behalf of the family of T.C., an 18-year-old young man with recurrent desmosplastic small blue cell tumor, a rare form
of cancer that is fatal. T.'s treatment included multiple rounds of chemotherapy that failed to stop the spread
of the disease. Currently, T. is receiving palliative chemotherapy and aggressive pain and symptom management.
T. lives with his mother, D. and his older brother who suffered a traumatic brain injury last year and requires round the
clock nursing care. D. has not been able to work since T.'s diagnosis and her older son's injury. Because
of the nature of his cancer and the severity of his disease, it is difficult for T. to breathe especially when he is lying
down. Since breathing is so difficult, T. sleeps sitting up. I am requesting financial assistance in the amount
of $500.00 to purchase a Lazy Boy chair for T.
The Lazy Boy outlet store in Montgomeryville, PA has agreed to find
the prefect chair for T. and deliver it free of charge. We hope to have the chair delivered by early next week.
Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
C. M. L., MSW Social Worker Pediatric Advance Care Team The Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia
